Frequently Asked Questions
-
We offer full service interior design for residential renovations, new builds, and boutique commercial spaces. If you’re unsure whether your project is the right fit, we’re always happy to chat.

Clients engage us at many different stages, from the very beginning through to mid construction, when decision fatigue sets in. Ideally, we’re involved early enough to help shape the internal layout and key decisions before documentation and approvals are finalised. Early engagement allows for more considered outcomes and helps avoid costly redesign later on.
-
We can tailor our involvement to suit different project needs, however the most cohesive outcomes are usually achieved when decisions sit within a broader design framework. Working through the full process allows ideas to be properly tested, resolved, and clearly communicated to trades, helping reduce guesswork and costly revisions. We find when we are brought in for ‘bits and pieces’ it often doesn’t lead to the cohesive outcome and experience clients are hoping for.

While we’re based in Hobart, Tasmania, we work on projects Australia wide. We’re always happy to discuss what working together would look like for your location.

When renovating, there are often two parallel streams: shaping how a home will function, feel, and support daily life, and preparing the drawings and documentation required for approvals and construction. Interior designers typically focus on liveability, layout refinement, joinery, lighting, finishes, and guiding clients through decision fatigue, while building designers and architects generally lead the approvals documentation and technical coordination required to bring a project to life, often also shaping the external form, street presence, and architectural expression of the home.
Rather than overlapping, projects are typically collaborative, with each consultant documenting their own area of expertise. Interior documentation supporting the internal design intent, and architectural or building documentation addresses structure, compliance, and approvals. Together, these drawings act as a clear roadmap for builders, allowing projects to be accurately priced, well coordinated, and delivered with fewer assumptions on site.
-
Our projects are typically delivered on a fixed fee through the design phases, providing clarity and predictability as decisions are developed and documented. If clients would like ongoing involvement during construction, we offer an optional Design Management phase charged hourly, as the level of support required can vary depending on the build or renovation. This approach allows flexibility while ensuring you only pay for the time needed on site.

The builder usually manages construction and coordinates trades once work begins, however we remain closely involved to help protect the design intent. We can recommend trusted trades and collaborate with your selected team throughout the process. For clients wanting additional support, our optional Design Management phase allows us to liaise directly with the builder and assist with queries, detailing, and on site decisions.
